Today was the day of the Apple Festival. I live in, amongst other things, Apple-Central USA. We grow tons and tons and tons of apples here and ship them across the country. The first Saturday of each October is the day of the Apple Festival. Basically it’s a big celebration through the town of North Wilkesboro where you can buy lots and lots of crafts and food. came to my place and we headed out to the Apple Festival. We met up with , his girlfriend Heather, her brother and two of their friends. We walked around the town and people-watched. Didn’t buy anything but a funnel cake and candied apple (both of which were awesome). Got to see people from work that I don’t see outside of the company setting, which was nice. Saw a few old friends. Had a good time.From there Dusty and I went to the grocery store and purchased two packs of Nathan’s hot dogs. I’d never had any of them and decided they’d be great. They were meant to be recover food for our forthcoming game of kickball.Yes, kickball. We’d been planning this for a few weeks. I’d hoped that would’ve been able to come to the Apple Festival and to the kickball game but it wasn’t in the cards. Hopefully next year.But, all the same, we headed out to the park for our gathering. Dusty and I waited around for people to show. Rich’s friends showed up, then and his wife Amber. Stan, Amber, Dusty and I decided to try the Mexican place that is, literally, about two hundred feet from my apartment. As long as I’ve lived here I’ve never tried it. It was awesome and cheap. I will have to hit up this place on a regular basis from now on.The place is just a few feet away from the park, so after we were done eating we headed back and saw that Rich and Heather were at the park. We decided to start the game.I’ve not had so much fun in a long time. It was absolutely great. I’m dead tired and it’s awesome. We played for a couple of hours. People started showing up sporadically. We didn’t have the turn out that I’d hoped for but it was enough people for a game.Everyone but Dusty, my former employee Chris and I left. So we headed back to my place for the Nathan’s hot dogs. They were pretty tasty. We watched ESPN HD for a while and then Chris headed out. Dusty and I started watching a movie and decided to head to Wal-Mart. We met up with our friend and co-worker Scott. We gabbed for a while there. Then Dusty found an electronic paint ball game. Dusty, Stan, Rich and I are gonna start paint balling on Rich’s land. Playing capture the flag. That’s going to be fun. Dusty likes paintball and likes light gun games, so he decided to pick this one up.We went to the supermarket, met up with and bought some stuff to make root beer floats. Dusty and I came back to the place, ate more hot dogs, drank our root beer floats and played the light gun game. That was fun.Tired as can be, we sat around and watched the newest episode of South Park, which was great. Dusty left about forty minutes ago. It doesn’t sound like a whole lot but it was fun. Now I need to finish my Botcon ‘06 write-up and do laundry tomorrow. Have to be up at 5:30 a.m. Monday to be in Mooresville by 8:00 a.m. Yay!
