Heroes Con is the annual Comic Convention held in Charlotte, NC at the Charlotte Convention Center. It is hosted and produced by Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find. It was once the largest comic convention on the East Coast in the United States.
There was not much in the way of Transformers at Heroescon 2009, which is odd considering that the highly anticipated Transformers sequel comes out in the United States this week.
Primarily we found overpriced CGC-Graded Transformers comics (see slide show), broken and loose G1 toys (see basically every comic convention in the world) and dramatically overpriced recent Japanese exclusives (Disney Label, etc.)
For Transformers fans, it was a real disappointment.
For comics fans, the sales floor was fair. Half-Priced Trade Paperbacks were everywhere.
I picked up (all half-priced):
- The Complete Bone Adventures, 2nd Printing (sold my 1st printing.)
- Daredevil: Born Again (a reading copy)
- Planet Hulk
- Justice Society Returns
- I Am Legend by Steve Niles
- Transformers Armada Vol. 1
- Trinity Vol. 1
After the convention we ate at The Penguin in Charlotte, NC. It’s a drive-in/dive but it is rockin with business. I had the Big-Block burger (2/3 pound) Southern Style (with chili and slaw.) Mark (pictured below) had “The Full-Blown Hemi” which is a whole pound of beef.
